Beginners classes 2010

February March April May June July August September October November

February 7 2010 Introduction to Astrology
The first class looks at the origins of Astrology. We go back in time to Ancient Babylon and the wonderful mastery of the Sky watchers, who mapped the heavens perched atop their Ziggurats. Tracing the origins of the zodiac and the astrological meanings of the planets. Basic astronomical principles are introduced, to be developed further in subsequent classes. We cover the major circles, Sun Earth, moon, seasons and cycles, as the basis of astrology.  Top

March 7/14 2010   The Sun
This class explores the sun in the natal chart or horoscope. We look at the different levels of understanding that are tied into the power house of our solar system. From Joseph Campbell's Hero's journey to the role of father and finally our own developing ego. This workshop looks at the significance of the sun from both the personal and mundane perspective, as we explore the symbolism of the sun and its significance. Join us as we take a trip around the Sun, the zodiac and discover how the signs became what they are. Triplicities (elements), and Modalities are explained, along with planetary rulers.  Top

April 11/18 2010 The Moon
This module looks at the role of the moon in the horoscope. The significance of the Moon in the horoscopes is arguably the most powerful singular influence. We explain the relevance of the moon to childhood and memory as we look from birth and the earliest experiences of infancy and childhood and learn how these impact on the adult self. Exploring the lunation phases and their connection to 'personality types'. This class also introduces aspects and the varying relationships between the 'heavenly bodies'. Top

May 2/9 2010 Basic Natal Calculation
This class covers the basic techniques of calculating a natal horoscope. At the end of this workshop, students have the basic skills and information to draw up a horoscope for any time and place on the globe. Use of the ephemeris and Book of Tables is included.  Top

June 6/13 2010 Introducing Angles
The horoscope hangs on the cross of matter. This is created form the Ascendant and Midheaven, which are the 'angles' in the horoscope. These are very sensitive and the most personal points of the horoscope. We also add the rest of the personal planets, Mercury Venus and Mars. As we add more ingredients to the mix, we start to see a much fuller individual taking shape. Learning how putting multiple facets together gives a much clearer view than the individual parts alone.  Top

July 4/11 2010 Transpersonal Planets, Aspects and Houses
In this workshop we look at the transpersonal or generational planets, also known as the outers. here we look to the slower moving giants of the Solar System and controversial Pluto. We look at peer and generational aspects of these behemoths and the modifying effects they have on the personals. Looking further at the aspects between the points in the horoscope and using the house placements to determine where in the life of an individual the energy is most likely to be expressed. This workshop begins to explore the horoscope as a whole and explores the house in more depth.  Top

August 8/15 2010 The Wholistic Approach to Horoscope Interpretation
In this workshop we learn to 'put it all together'. This class shows how to approach the horoscope systematically. Students are walked through the process of looking at the big picture and gradually turning up the magnification to focus on the individual parts. We look at balance, excesses and lacks in the chart, elements, modality, hemispheres, quadrants etc.  Top

September 5/12 2010 Practical Application
We continue our exploration of discovering the potential in the chart, as we become more confident in horoscope delineation. In this class we are looking at real people as students read each others horoscopes, under supervision. This allows the invaluable feedback that is missing when the owner of the chart is not present.  Top

October 3/10 2010 Synastry I
Synastry is the study of the combination of of 2 or more horoscopes, be they of human animal ore even inanimate objects. Having gained the basic skills of horoscopic astrology, we now move into another level, looking at how we impact on others and they on us.
